Is it legal to discharge a firearm (shoot a gun) in the City?
Sec. 8.01.002 of the City Code of Ordinance makes it unlawful for any person to discharge(shoot) any gun, pistol or firearm of any kind in the City. An exception to this restriction is on a contiguous tract of undeveloped land larger than 20 acres and not within 100 yards of any property line as long as the gun is not pointed in the direction of any building, dwelling, road park or populated area. Officers in the discharge of their duties are exempted. Contact the Police Department at (903)849-2181 for further information.
