 Officer David Patterson

Officer David Patterson joined the U.S. Navy in 1986 and after visiting 24 countries, completing 6 long cruise deployments and flying over 4,500 flight hours, he decided to retire in 2008. Patterson is a veteran of both Gulf wars and got his first experience in law enforcement while working in a prisoner detention camp in Iraq. Wanting to continue a career of service, Patterson enrolled in the Police Academy in 2009 and joined the Chandler Police Department in 2011. Chief Ron Reeves asked Officer Patterson to re-establish the Police Explorer Program for Chandler and in December of 2011, Post 1721 received its charter. Since Officer Patterson took charge of the program, 20 young men and women have joined the Chandler Police Explorers. In 2012, he was named Police Officer of the Year by the Chandler Chamber of Commerce. See article from the Chandler/Brownsboro Statesman. Officer Patterson attended Field Training Officer school in 2013 and became the department's third FTO. Currently Patterson is serving as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer school in 2013 and became the department's third FTO. Currently Patterson is serving as a Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer. He holds an Intermediate Peace Officers License and is certified as a Special Investigator for sexual assault crimes and has an Associate Degree in Computer Science.
