The City of Chandler is a “Type A” general law municipality that has an aldermanic form of government with a governing body composed of the mayor and aldermen. There are five aldermen who are elected from the city at large.

The requirements to run for City Council are that candidates must: 1. Be at least 18 years of age 2. Be a citizen of the United States 3. Be a qualified voter of the City of Chandler 4. Be a resident of the City of Chandler and have resided in the City for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election 5. Not be otherwise disqualified from serving on the City Council by any other provision of law.
You must submit an application with the City Secretary to run for City Council.

First, you must determine if you reside in Henderson County. Henderson County residents may contact Paula Ludtke at (903)675-6149 for information on when and how to register to vote. Many questions can be answered through their website and you can also print off a Texas Voter Registration Application.
