1. What kind of governing body is the City of Chandler?: The City of Chandler is a “Type A” general law municipality that has an aldermanic form of government with a governing body composed of the mayor and aldermen. There are five aldermen who are elected from the city at large.

3. What are the qualifications to run for City Council?: The requirements to run for City Council are that candidates must: 1. Be at least 18 years of age 2. Be a citizen of the United States 3. Be a qualified voter of the City of Chandler 4. Be a resident of the City of Chandler and have resided in the City for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election 5. Not be otherwise disqualified from serving on the City Council by any other provision of law.

4. How do I run for one of the places on the ballot?: You must submit an application with the City Secretary to run for City Council.

5. How long are the councilmember terms?: The length of each term is two years and terms are staggered so that only part of the officers are elected at each election. There are no term limits. Election to all offices is by Plurality vote (Majority).

6. How many City Council meetings are there?: City Council meetings are at 6:00 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month at City Hall, located at 811 Hwy 31 East. There may be additional special meetings or workshops every calendar year.

7. How do I know if I am a qualified voter of the City of Chandler?: Contact the Henderson County Voter Registrar's office at: (Election Administrator) 201 J East Larkin

8. How do I register to vote?: First, you must determine if you reside in Henderson County. Henderson County residents may contact Paula Ludtke at (903)675-6149 for information on when and how to register to vote. Many questions can be answered through their website and you can also print off a Texas Voter Registration Application.
